Dali Mount Cangshan Global Geopark
Cangshan Erhai National Nature Reserve
Proluvial Fan
After a torrent from a ravinerushes out of the mountain, its flow rate reduces abruptly due to a sudden decrease of the gradient. The current is then dispersed in radial flows, and the flux of each flow drops substantially, which greatly weakens the torrent's carrying capacity. Therefore, a large quantity of silt and gravel are accumulated at the ravine's mouth, forming a fan-shaped landform.
At the gully's mouths of the Eighteen Streams at eastern piedmont of Cangshan Mountain, there are piedmont proluvial fans. Adjoining the front edge of the proluvial fan are the alluvial deposits and lacustrine deposits surrounding Erhai.
