Intangible Cultural Heritage
The Geopark now boasts 2 distinctive traditional ethnic arts and crafts: Chinese Folk Knot Dyeing Art and Chinese Folk Dongjing Ancient Music Art, whose origins of product—Zhoucheng Village and Dali —have been named as the hometown of Chinese folk arts respectively by the authorities of national culture of China, 6 State Council protected Intangible Cultural Heritage items: Raosanling of the Bai people, Knot Dyeing Art of the Bai people, Colored Painting of the Bai-people residence, Bai Opera, Sanyue Street in Dali and Xiaguan Compressed Tea, 5 inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage: Zhang Shishen (Bai people), Zhao Piding (Bai people) and Li Yunyi, etc.,12 provincially protected Intangible Cultural Heritage items and hundreds of prefecture-level and county-level protected Intangible Cultural Heritage items. Sanyue Street in Dali has won the first national award for The Best Cultural Heritage of Chinese Festivals. The national intangible cultural heritage "Raosanling Activity of the Bai Ethnic Minority" has been applied for trademark registration protection.
