Tangible Cultural Heritage
A long history with rich and profound historical culture leaves behind abundant historical and cultural heritage in Dali region, including luxurious cultural relics both on the ground and underground. After the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, especially since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC, the party and the government have attached great importance to protecting these cultural heritage. Batches of important cultural relics have been listed as key cultural relics protection units by governments at different levels. Nowadays, there are 2 national historical and cultural cities,2 provincial historical and cultural cities and 6 provincial historical and cultural towns (villages) in Dali autonomous prefecture. Among them in the Global Geopark, there are 5 national cultural relics protection units, 12 provincial cultural relics protection units, 7 prefecture-level cultural relics protection units and over 100 county(municipal)-level cultural relics protection units.
