Overview of Animals

        With great elevation difference, precipitous topography and dense vegetation, the Geopark embraces a wealth of animal resources. Clearly recorded vertebrate 407 species, subjection to 4 classes, 36 orders, 89 families. Including beasts 10 orders, 31 families, 86 species, birds 18 orders, 42 families, 263 species, amphibians and reptiles 4 orders, 9 families, 28 species, fishes 4 orders, 317 families, 30 species.

       According to the zoogeographical division of China, the Geopark belongs to the southwest mountain sub-region, southwest region, oriental realm, this region is rich in endemic birds, amphibians and reptiles and fishes, such as the Chrysolophus amherstiae.

        Meanwhile, there is still potential to find more new species in the Geopark. Over the past decade, more than a dozen new animal species have been found, such as Aalatettix cangshanensis, Pentatoma cangshanensis and Coptotettix cangshanensis.
