Overview of Plants

        Dali Mount Cangshan UNESCO Global Geopark, at the conjunction between Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Hengduan Mountains, has a complex landform and geographic position. Its main peak, Malong Peak (4,122m) is 2,156 meters higher than Erhai Lake (1,966m), characterized by distinct vertical climate. The Geopark is belong to subtropical plateau monsoon climate, wet and dry season is clear. Thus, make the Geopark to be the richest place of plant in our county.

        According to research data, There are a total of 3,119 vascular plant species, belonging to 972 genera and 215 families (including subspecies) in the Geopark, of which, pteridophyte: 345 species, belonging to 102 genera and 44 families; gymnosperm: 14 species, belonging to 8 genera and 5 families; angiosperm: 2,760 species, belonging to 862 genera and 166 families. The Geopark accounts for only 0.24% of the total area of Yunnan and 0.0097% of the total land area of China, but accounts for 18.7% of the total vascular plant species of Yunnan and 10.0% of the total of China.
