3209 elementary students participate in the activities “science knowledge into schools” hold by Dali Mount Cangshan UNESCO Global Geopark

At the beginning of November, a series of activities for the introduction of science knowledge into schools hold by Dali Mount Cangshan UNESCO Global Geopark came to a successful ending. This event was hosted by Administration of Dali Cangshan Global Geopark, undertaken by Dali suboffice, Yangbi suboffice and Eryuan suboffice of Administration of Mount Cangshan and Erhai Lake National Nature Reserve, and co-organized by the Education and Sports Bureau of each city and county around Mount Cangshan. To the end, a total of 21 primary schools and 3,209 students participated for almost 1 month.

Knowledge Contest Award Ceremony

      The activity took advantage of class meetings and young pioneers activities to popularized the concepts of Dali Mount Cangshan UNESCO Global Geopark, the charateristics of Mount Cangshan and Erhai lake, and relative requirement in Mount Cangshan and Erhai Lake National Nature Reserve to students in grades 4-6 of primary schools, through the forms of exhibition boards, leaflets, lectures, theme class meetings and science knowledge competitions. This activity values the position of school in education and publicity for guiding students in starting their own act to participate in Cangshan-Erhai protection starting from small things.

      The present event shows a strong strength and wide coverage. 2,000 people from 13 primary schools in Yangbi County, 816 people from 7 primary schools in Eryuan County and 393 people from 1 primary school in Dali City simultaneously participated, almost covering all the main primary schools in Cangshan area of the Geopark.

Science Knowledge Contest

      Event is strong and orderly organized. The whole activity displays strict competition examinations and comprehensive recognition, which enables students to learn, remember and use them quickly. In addition, prizes such as globes and environmental protection bags printed with the logo of Dali Mount Cangshan UNESCO Global Geopark were distributed, which are practicality and beauty, and could fully mobilize the enthusiasm and participation of students.

      In recent years, the Administration of Dali Mount Cangshan Global Geopark attaches great importance to the scitific knowledge popularization and achieved remarkable results. In 2021, the administration systematically popularized the geological landscape diversity, biological diversity and cultural diversity of the Geopark through series program "Political Popularity Hotline" in Dali Radio and TV Station, with an audience of more than 100,000 people heard. In addition, more than 50,000 copies of science leaflets were printed and distributed, and various science publicity activities were carried out in communities. Next step, the Administration will further strengthen science popularization to schools and communities by carrying out various popularization activities. We would strive to build a beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between human beings with Mount Cangshan and Erhai Lake.
