An Expert Team from UNESCO Will Visit Dali Mount Cangshan Geopark for Inspection and Acceptance Soon

From July 28 to August 1 of this year, an expert team for global Geoparks will visit Dali Mount CangshanGeopark for inspection and acceptance.

After Dali Mount CangshanGeopark achieved the successful application for the "National Geopark" in August, 2005, through about 9 years of construction, improvements and common unremitting efforts of all levels, it was determined as the Global Geopark Candidate of China in 2014 with the Mount Kunlun National Geopark in The Seventh UNESCO Global Geopark Recommendation Meeting held in Beijing on January 12, 2012.

According to National Geopark Construction Standard and Work Guideline and Standard for National Geoparks Seeking the Help of UNESCO and Applying for Joining Global Geoparks Network, since 2012, relevant departments at provincial, prefectural and municipal levels including Mount CangshanGeopark Authority of Dali Autonomous Prefecture have made concerted efforts, seized opportunities and launched cooperation with each other to undertake all work about the UNESCO Global Geopark application of Mount Cangshan Geopark well. Recently, Mount CangshanGeopark has finished the basic work of welcoming the evaluation and is struggling for relevant preparations of the last stage. 

The expert team of UNESCO Global Geopark acceptance will carry out an inspection of 3 days on 5 major categories of the Geopark including the geology and landscape, management organizations, information and environmental education, geoscience tourism as well as the sustainable regional economy, totally 40 subcategories and about 100 subitems, by focusing on Work Guideline and Standard for National Geoparks Seeking the Help of UNESCO and Applying for Joining Global Geoparks Network.
